Large washout will be closed for along time. Going to take large machinery to restore the road.

Open all the way up for most vehicles, there are several previously cleared deadfalls, but at about 3160' alt there is a large tree suspended over the road that will limit taller vehicles. We stopped at Heliotrope Ridge TH (pictured). Snow was a few inches deep and churned up at trailhead, but road is compact snow and ice for a couple mile prior. Smith Basin Rd gate is still closed. Grouse Butte Rd appears open, unsure how far one can go with current snow levels.

Trail is open all the way to Heliotrope trail head and beyond. We went past the trail head to the picnic area which was supposed to have a view but it didn't, there are other great views of mount baker along the route. The road is a mix of paved and dirt but the paved sections are breaking down. All sorts of vehicles at the trailhead so it must be doable by 2 wheel drive etc.

Glacier Creek Road Trail can be accessed by the following ride types:

  • Single Track
  • 50 Inch
  • 60 Inch
  • High Clearance
