Trail Overview

Branching directly off the main thoroughfare, FS 3062-056 functions as a brief, highly secluded out-and-back spur that loosely follows the peaceful corridor of Nine Mile Creek. Tucked deep within a lush, densely timbered National Forest environment, this pathway invites outdoor enthusiasts to escape the primary traffic and immerse themselves in the vibrant, shaded woodland canopy. Explorers primarily utilize this tight forest track to access a series of primitive dispersed campsites hidden among the towering evergreens. The driving surface consists of a narrow, single-lane dirt and gravel foundation that earns a moderate Grade 2 difficulty rating due to its uneven condition. The journey ultimately concludes at a spacious dead-end clearing that perfectly serves as a private, terminal campsite. With enough room to comfortably accommodate a small group of four to five vehicles, this final destination provides an excellent backcountry retreat and a necessary turnaround point to safely exit the wilderness.

Difficulty

Earning a moderate Grade 2 difficulty rating, this brief out-and-back woodland spur features a generally firm dirt and gravel base that is frequently interrupted by bothersome surface degradation. Severe technical off-road hazards such as deep, impassable mud bogs, massive rock crawls, and steep shelf drop-offs are completely absent from the route. Instead, the primary challenges are an abundance of jarring potholes, shallow water puddles, and minor rutting scattered throughout the driving line. Navigating this thoroughfare requires an attentive approach, slowing to a gentle crawl to comfortably absorb the bumpy terrain without jarring the cabin. Additionally, because the pathway is quite constricted by encroaching forest vegetation, drivers should anticipate a tight squeeze and minor clear-coat pinstriping from trailside brush while maneuvering toward the final camping area. Adequate ground clearance is highly recommended to easily glide over the deeper muddy depressions and ensure a stress-free arrival.
