Trail Overview

Foggy Dew Ridge Trail is an advanced single-track with constant rock features and switchbacks that will require expert-level skill with pivot turns and steep ascents/descents. The trail will be difficult in either direction because it has advanced obstacles all throughout the 6-mile route in both the uphill and downhill directions. The west end starts with a steep and loose climb up from the Martin Creek Trail, with large embedded rocks. There are a couple very steep switchbacks, and a very steep rock face obstacle, right away. It turns tightly up a rock slab face, and continues through the high elevation terrain full of chunky embedded granite rock slabs. The dirt is very silty, making it very loose and dusty, and dug out and rutted in spots. The high elevation views of the surrounding peaks are incredible, but the trail is very tricky in spots, requiring tight maneuvers through the rocks and good pivot skills for the switchbacks. You gain 500 feet elevation in the first two miles, and then it descends steeply for the remaining 4 miles. There are similar advanced features in the descent – tight switchbacks with embedded rocks and drop-offs, rutted descents and steep terrain. It becomes very narrow in sections as well. One switchback in particular with a large root will be more difficult in the uphill direction (east to west). You lose almost 3,000 feet elevation in the last four miles. The trail system is very well cared for and maintained by a local motorcycle club, and all downfall appeared to be cut by the end of June. Please prevent rutting out the trails by preventing wheel spin if the obstacles are above your level.
