Trail Overview
This is a short, steep, narrow double-track trail that cuts up the mountain. It starts out with sweeping turns and quickly turns to tight switchbacks. Expect lots of switchbacks, roots, rocks, and blind corners. Keeping momentum is key on this trail. About halfway up, there is a forest road that you cross. When dry, the dirt is loose and dusty. In the rain, the mud turns to clay and gets slick. There are a couple pull off's on the trail. Look for those if you need to stop, and do not stop on the trail due to the corners being blind. The trail brings you to "Army Tie Road," which gives you easy access to many other trails in Capitol Forest. Be aware that this is a two-way trail, so watch for other riders. All trails in Capitol Forest are open May 1st to November 30th. Trails are CLOSED to motorized use the rest of the year.
Difficulty
Fast-paced climb into the forest with lots of roots and small rock obstacles. Perfect for novice riders looking for a little more of a challenge or a good warm-up for more skilled riders. The surface can get loose, and sections get steep. The trail is passable for quads, but it will get very tight in areas.
