Trail Overview
Cross Over Road is a 3.6-mile out-and-back gravel route branching off Brushy Road and following the side of a ridge before terminating at a road closure near Tekison Creek. The road maintains a gravel surface for its entire length. At 0.5 miles, a washout features a 2-foot step down as of February 2026. Beyond the washout, the trail becomes a smooth gravel road with views looking southeast toward the Columbia River and numerous dispersed campsites. This trail is managed by the Washington Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Fish and Wildlife. A Washington State Discover Pass is required for access. Motorized vehicle use is restricted to roads marked with green dots only, as per management regulations. Cross Over Road is accessible year-round.
Difficulty
Featuring a washout with a significant 2-foot step down, Cross Over Road requires four-wheel drive with a minimum of 33-inch tires. This is the only substantial obstacle on the trail, as the surface is smooth gravel throughout the remaining sections. Weather conditions such as rain and snow may significantly affect the difficulty. A chainsaw or other equipment for clearing windfall is highly recommended.
