Trail Overview

This trail is an out-and-back that will take about 45 minutes in each direction. The trail is 6.9 miles in each direction as well. The complete trail is broken down into 3 different forest trail sections as the terrain type and difficulty in each of these sections changes, sometimes drastically. Starting at CG 2030, this is a wide, loose gravel-type trail that has a difficulty level of 1. The trail has some very minor ruts and offers plenty of areas to pass other vehicles. There are a few spots that can be used for dispersed camping as well. Following this portion of the trail will lead you to CG 2037. On CG 2037, the trail becomes more narrow and it offers some loose gravel along with short areas of rocky pathways. The trail has minor overgrowth in some areas that may cause pinstriping. The trail conditions slightly change on CG 2037 as there are more ruts and washouts along the path. There are spots along this portion to pass other vehicles and there are a few spots that could be used for dispersed camping. CG 2037 is a level 2 trail. WARNING: If you do not have a high clearance vehicle, the end of the CG 3037 portion and the start of the CG 2200 section would be the place where you want to turn around as CG 2200 becomes much more challenging and where a high clearance vehicle is needed. CG 2200 becomes significantly more narrow and has an abundance of overgrowth. The trail conditions continue to deteriorate the further down you progress. The CG 2200 portion of this trail has very deep ruts and very deep washouts that would prevent most stock vehicles from being able to pass. The trail, since it's very narrow and overgrown, does not offer the ability to choose a line of attack for the very deep ruts and washouts. There are very limited places to pass or turn around along this section. At the end of the CG 2200 portion, there is a larger opening that allows for an easy turnaround. The CG 2200 portion of this trail is rated at moderate, level 4.

Trial isn’t is rough as people say it is I’d be comfortable driving a Toyota Corolla up there. Two things though, it is currently snowing up there and it does in fact dead end.

The CG2030/CG2037/CG2200 “trail” shown by a OnX is entirely covered in gravel. The entire length is passable by logging trucks. There is no trail here, and there is no fun to be found. If you continue east on CG2200 toward Carson (ie past the end of the OnX “trail”), the road becomes difficult and that part is fun. But the blue 4/10 trail shown in OnX is frankly completely wrong. This is a gravel road and passable probably by a 2wd vehicle: I passed a mini cooper!
