Trail Overview
Cedar Mainline - FS 5000 is an enjoyable forest drive through the heart of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, offering a mix of dense evergreen forests, mountain views, and occasional overlooks into the surrounding valleys. Numerous spur roads branch off the main route, making this an excellent area to explore if you have extra time. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including deer, elk, black bear, and a variety of birds, especially during the early morning and evening hours.
This area is popular for dispersed camping, hunting, and hiking, with plenty of opportunities to find a quiet campsite or explore lesser-traveled roads. Many of the side roads lead to scenic viewpoints and additional forest access; downloading the onX base map is recommended. Use caution while traveling, as Cedar Mainline Road can be an active logging route depending on the season. Watch for logging trucks, stay to the right on blind corners, and be prepared for changing road conditions. Always check current forest road conditions before your trip.
