Trail Overview

This is a major excursion route. Combination of paved road out of Chewelah, gravel road, and steep rocky parts as you get on the Calispell Peak Road. It is a rough, bouncy, two mile section that is well worth the time and effort to get to the top.

Calispell Peak Trail from Tacoma Creek is permanently blocked near the burn scar. The trail has been deeply cut with 3 V ditches and large burms of rock and dirt. Only passable with a dirt bike on the bypass.

we went to the summit from the south approach. we intended to go down the Tacoma Creek side to the east but a large tree was blocking the road about 5 miles down from the summit. We then tried to go south on calispell Divide Road and ran into a brand new gate right at the property boundary of Pend Orielle County and Colville National Forest. This road is now inaccessible to get to the summit from the south.
