Trail Overview

This easy gravel route follows NF-65, NF-60, Carson Guler Road. A few interesting stops along the way include Panther Creek Falls, Goose Lake, Guler Ice Caves, and plenty of camp spots on the route. Also interesting is the Big Lave Bed right on the route, which is interesting to explore by foot. Expect snow most of the way during the winter.

Deep Snow
Went up Big Lava Bed Trail today toward Red Mountain Lookout Road. Decided to turn and continue on Carson-Guler on a part that was unplowed. Unfortunately, I ended up getting high centered on some deep snow and we just couldn’t get traction. After about an hour, an FJ cruiser came around the corner and helped pull us out to where I could get turned around.

panther Creek Rd was snow covered, but traversable with AWD. Carson Guler Rd is only passable with high clearance vehicles as of today.

Road condition going east to Goose Lake from Peterson Prairie campground is very poor and makes for some very slow going
