Trail Overview

Jordan Run, designated as Forest Road 358, begins with a short section that is open year‑round. The remaining two‑thirds of the route is seasonally open from January 1 through January 31, April 1 through May 31, and September 1 through December 31. The most challenging feature of the trail appears right at the entrance: a dip of roughly 10 inches that descends into the start of the route. Beyond this point, the majority of the trail is a mostly well‑maintained gravel road. Additional obstacles include small rocks under 6 inches in height, minor potholes, and a single smooth rock measuring approximately 12 inches. This larger rock is fully avoidable by driving alongside it. Vegetation overgrowth is minimal, and is easy to avoid pinstriping in the spring. A campsite is located roughly three‑quarters of the way into the trail, positioned directly beside the road. The Piney Mountain hiking trail begins near the start of Jordan Run and crosses it again near Black Rock Peak, offering additional recreation opportunities. The trail ends at a turnaround large enough to accommodate multiple vehicles.
