Trail Overview

Goff Mountain Road, designated as FS 951 and sometimes referred to as Battery Creek, is an easy, well‑maintained gravel road suitable for most passenger vehicles. A few larger embedded rocks appear along the route, but none present significant difficulty for typical ground‑clearance vehicles. The trail remains open year‑round from the lower end, as it provides required access to private residences along the road. During periods of inclement weather, the gate at the Blue Ridge Parkway may be closed, but this does not affect access from the bottom. From the Blue Ridge Parkway, the trail begins at the James River Valley pull‑off and parking area near mile marker 69, making it easy to locate for travelers approaching from the Parkway. Overall, Goff Mountain Road is a straightforward, accessible route with reliable maintenance and no notable obstacles.
