This trail is accessed either just after or just before the historic Mountain Lake Lodge, well known as one of the filming locations for the movie Dirty Dancing. The trail itself consists primarily of hard-packed gravel and is mostly a two-track route. There are plenty of wider areas along the trail where vehicles can safely pull over and allow oncoming traffic to pass, which makes meeting another vehicle less difficult. The trail is free of major obstacles and should be suitable for most vehicles, including standard SUVs and trucks. While the route does not appear to present significant technical challenges, drivers should still use normal caution on gravel surfaces and around blind corners. The combination of easy access, manageable terrain, and the historic location nearby makes this a worthwhile trail for a casual off-road drive.
