Trail Overview

Dagger Springs Road is a through trail that can be accessed either from the community of Gaia or from Blue Grass Trail, with the Blue Grass Trail approach being the recommended direction. Much of the route is a very well-maintained and wide county gravel road that has recently undergone improvements to support the new wind farm being developed atop Sheets Mountain. As users continue toward the Blue Grass Trail side of the route, Dagger Springs Road gradually narrows back down to a more typical lane-and-a-half gravel road. Despite the reduced width, the trail remains suitable for most vehicles and provides an enjoyable route through the surrounding mountain countryside. The combination of wide, recently improved sections and narrower rural road makes Dagger Springs Road an interesting addition to the local trail network. Users should be prepared for changing road conditions and widths as they travel the full route.
