Trail Overview

CC49 begins on the east end with a challenging ascent featuring 10+ tight hairpin switchbacks within the first half mile. This initial section is very steep, rutted, and filled with loose, large rocks, with occasional running water that makes conditions slick. The climb is relentless and moderately technical due to all the rock and the steep grade. After reaching the top of the hill, the trail levels out and transitions into a more gradual, flowing path through the trees, with reduced rock and smoother terrain.
