CC48 begins at its south end behind the Dollar Tree parking lot, just past the train tracks and a gate marked with ATV route signs. The trail starts as a wider path with loose rock, then transitions into a narrow shelf path cut into the hillside after the first intersection. Drivers should expect ruts and several tight hairpin turns along this section. Toward the north end, the trail widens again and ends near the train tracks, where it connects directly to the paved ATV access route leading into Grundy.
