Trail Overview

Spectacular 17 mile route through iconic desert spires, buttes, and formations. Think Monument Valley that you can actually drive right next to the monuments and wild camp - for free. This route is not hard, but you MUST pay attention to weather - if it rains, it flashes very easily and you can be stuck in here for up to a week.

Great condition! Looks like it recently had gravel dumped on it, so it's another than I've seen before. Totally dry too. Even the creek crossing at the East entrance is dry

The trail was dry and dusty and very smooth. Started from the East entrance. Despite the holiday, still a few campsites available.

This road is a must see and its FREE! Great for pictures and boon-dock camping near the Mexican Hat entrance side. Be sure to take the switchbacks up the box canyon after passing the Bed and Breakfast end. I saw several 5th wheels, trailers and even a Super C camped in the free campsites along the rd. Also saw several sedan type cars driving the road(must have been rental cars)😉

A beautiful 17 mile journey. Some people, but we didn’t think it was too busy.

Fun trail. Saw a civic make it about halfway through. Wouldn’t recommend doing that but it gives you a sense of the difficulty here.

Easy riding, great views, and almost no water in the first entry wash from the highway.

A little busy for my taste but the views were worth it. Very easy road with tons of camping spots, very few with privacy however. Lots of RV's, camper vans and Subaru's. The wind was terrible and got red dirt into everything! I'll never get it all out. Still worth it. Stunning scenery.
