Trail Overview

Up & Out Of Oak Patch Wash is a challenging, narrow three-mile out-and-back trail ascending from the Oak Patch Wash area into the rugged hills of southwestern Utah, offering spectacular panoramic views for experienced drivers. Ideal for smaller four-wheel-drive vehicles and SxSs, this route climbs from an elevation of 4,257 feet up to a peak of 5,017 feet. The trail is highly technical, featuring tight turns, steep hills, loose rocky climbs, and narrow ridges with off-camber sections. Due to the extremely narrow passage and sharp desert vegetation growing along the trail's edge, paint damage is highly likely, and full-size rigs or larger groups should avoid this route because the turnaround point at the summit is only large enough for a single vehicle. With a technical rating of 5, the route presents obstacles such as sharp rocks, loose hill climbs, off-camber transitions, and deep washouts that require high clearance and capable traction. Offroaders will experience a net elevation change of nearly 700 feet over the course of the climb, navigating average gradients of around four degrees. A small, flat clearing at the high point of the trail offers a scenic spot suitable for a single vehicle to camp and enjoy the vista. Reliable communication is not guaranteed, as cell service is highly spotty with only a single bar of LTE signal that fades in and out along the ridge.
