Trail Overview

Silver Meadows (FS 70174) offers an easygoing drive through wide alpine meadows framed by scattered pine groves and mountain ridgelines. The dirt road is mostly smooth and graded, with light ruts, a few stretches of loose rock, and a short sandy patch to keep things interesting. Drivers will share the forest with logging trucks and free-range cattle, making it feel like a working backcountry landscape. The trail is not technical, but it’s rich in scenery, including big open views, pockets of forest shade, and plenty of dispersed campsites tucked off the road. For those seeking a peaceful half-day escape, this road is perfect for soaking up the high country without the stress of obstacles.
