Sheep Creek Road

Sheep Creek Road (Forest Road 40041) is a scenic, 1.6-mile dirt route in Fishlake National Forest. Ideal for stock SUVs and novice off-roaders, this easy, two-lane track winds through aspen groves, oak brush, and sagebrush meadows between 8,304 and 8,471 feet in elevation. While the route climbs less than 200 feet, the dirt surface is filled with deep potholes that require a slow pace. The area is known for wildlife viewing, including mule deer and elk, and features several primitive dispersed campsites. While open year-round, the road is typically snow-packed in winter, making summer and fall the best seasons to visit.
