Trail Overview

Non-Resident OHV permits apply to ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes. Plated street-legal vehicles typically do not need one on legal motorized routes. This route is a mostly sandy desert trail that offers an enjoyable drive with a few features that require extra attention. The primary challenge comes from at least two washout sections filled with deep, soft sand. Even in dry conditions, these areas can be easy places to lose momentum and become stuck, especially for heavier vehicles or those with highway-oriented tires. If the trail is wet, traction may become much more limited as the saturated sand can become extremely slick and unstable. Along the route, the trail is bordered by native trees and desert vegetation, so it is important to remain on the established track to protect the surrounding landscape. There are also a few rocky sections, including one ledge around 12 inches tall and a small rock slab, but no major technical obstacles are present.

Difficulty

This trail is generally mild, but deep soft sand in the washouts raises the difficulty more than the rock features. The main risks are losing momentum, getting stuck, and reduced traction after rain. Minor rocky sections include one 12-inch ledge and a small slab, but there are no major technical obstacles.
