Trail Overview
This route is a short and easy backcountry drive that works well for travelers looking for scenery without technical obstacles. The road is fairly maintained with a mix of gravel and dirt, making it suitable for most vehicles in dry conditions. Because the route is relatively smooth and straightforward, it can be enjoyed at a relaxed pace while taking in the surrounding desert landscape. Near the end, the road reaches a turnaround loop where wide views open across nearby rock formations and distant mesas. On clear days, you may also be able to see the tops of the La Sal Mountains rising far beyond the desert horizon. One of the more unique features along the route is a pond, which can attract birds and other wildlife depending on the season. Keep an eye out for movement near the water’s edge as you drive. This is a great option for a quick scenic detour, sunset drive, or peaceful side trip between more challenging trails.
