Trail Overview

Part of the treasured Sand Flats Recreations Area, Hells Revenge is one of the most popular trails near Moab. Due to hazardous conditions, this trail is recommended for experienced riders only. These challenges, combined with breathtaking scenery, make this a rewarding adventure. Hell's Revenge intertwines with the Slickrock Bike Trail, so be very careful at crosspoints: bikers have the right of way. The trailhead is just past the entrance station. Traversing sand and slickrock, hair-raising climbs, steep descents and sharp turns, Hells Revenge offers excitement around every corner. A one-day pass for private vehicles is $5, a 7-day pass is $10, and an annual pass is $25. Out of state ATVs or UTVs require a permit. OHV permits are valid for 12 months and cost $30. Passes and permits are available online only. As of January 1, 2023, all OHV operators must complete the Utah Off-Highway vehicle education course, also available online.

Difficulty

These trails are difficult with considerable erosion damage, loose rocks, dirt, and slickrock. Water in excess of 12 inches is possible with mud conditions. The steps do not exceed 36 inches. 4WD and tall tires (33 inches plus) with two traction-adding devices (lockers, limited slips) are required. A winch would be a plus. Enhanced suspension travel and good ground clearance are required. Excellent driving skills are recommended.

First portion of the trail was awesome. But as we left, the bathtubs is starting to rain and I'm not gonna lie, the pucker factor going up and down at 30°+ and you're sliding is a little sketchy. Overall though, it's an amazing trail and definitely want to do it again, just not in the rain!

Great trail has a lot of good obstacles definitely best in a group to help lines.

ran the entire course in 2008 Hummer H2. did not do hot tubs, gate, escalator, or stairs. surprised there was nobody else on the trail. definitely a few spots that a spotter was handy.

Definitely one of my favorite trails ever! Nice step up in difficulty from fins and things with similar scenery. The mandatory stuff is definitely around a 4 or 5, with the last obstacle at the end being the hardest imo. The gate was really fun and doable with good tire placement. Did majority of the harder lines without scraping my JK.

round trip from start to end was 7 hours, granted that included watching some of the major obstacle action, lunch, and sightseeing. lots of sxs, some jeeps/broncos. one big issue, the Onx app of the trail does NOT show the bypass connecting trail from near Mickeys Hot Tub and the Escalator to the main returning trailhead, and it's a primary trail taken by many to avoid the brutal trail after "tip over challenge" obstacle to return to the trailhead. Even the Sand Flats recreation area map shows this connector trail. look at the map provided by sand flats for accuracy
