Trail Overview

The East Ridge Trail connects Ridge Trail to Pot Hollow. This is one of the more difficult trails in the American Fork system. Riding south to north, the trail starts off easy in a wooded section before breaking out into a field as you ride across the mountainside. On a clear day, there are great views of the valley from here. As you continue traversing the mountain, the trail gets narrower with a steep downhill to your right. Eventually you'll cross a scree field with large, loose, basketball-sized rocks and later a few sections with beachball-sized rocks embedded in the ground. This section can be tricky when wet. After this, there are a few tight downhill turns in a very deep section of the trail and another couple smaller rock gardens.

Difficulty

This is one of the more difficult trails in the area. The combination of loose and embedded large rocks on a narrow trail with exposure to steep downhills in some areas gives this one a higher rating.

There are a couple trees about 6’ apart that are high enough to high center on. Just had to lift the bike a little to get over them. We went downhill south to north, it would be very difficult to go the other way it is very steep, loose rocky rutted.

3-4 tipped trees - not easy hop overs, seriously inconvenient where they tipped. We rode the climbing way and boy it was a booty kicker. Steep ascents and really loose. Once you hit the switch backs your home free, but until then, be prepared for long climbs and big rocks and roots.

This trail is for advanced riders only. There are about 5 fallen tree blocking the trail that need to be removed. There a ton of large basketball size rocks along with small loose rocks. DO NOT go up this ONLY down hill. This trail is very difficult going backwards. We had to turn around 3/4 of the way due to how steep it was. All hill climbs with lots of small loose rocks.
