Trail Overview

Dismal Finale is a short, rugged 0.6-mile trail on Stansbury Island tailored for four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and dirt bikes looking to reach the eastern boundary of public BLM land near the Great Salt Lake. This flat route, sitting at an elevation of roughly 4,220 feet, is highly susceptible to wet weather and can quickly turn into a series of deep ruts and sloppy mud holes. Drivers will need high-clearance vehicles with capable traction to successfully navigate the uneven terrain and avoid getting bogged down. The trail terminates at a lone fire ring and a couple of informal shooting areas, marking the final point before transitioning into private property. Because of the surrounding private parcels, offroaders must respect posted signage and avoid trespassing beyond the designated boundary. While the trail offers a quick, technical challenge when wet, it is best avoided during heavy rains unless drivers are fully prepared for sticky, clay-like mud.
