Trail Overview

This trail offers a noticeable step up in difficulty compared to many of the surrounding Salt Wash routes and is better suited for drivers looking for a more technical challenge. Early and middle sections of the trail feature several steep rock climbs that require careful throttle control, smart tire placement, and the use of low-range gearing. Along these climbs, drivers will encounter ledges with rocks up to 2 feet tall that may test both suspension travel and ground clearance. One particular ledge contains a sharp, pointed rock that deserves extra caution, as poor line choice could result in damage to tires, wheels, or underbody components. Skid plates and durable off-road tires are strongly recommended. As the trail continues, the terrain gradually becomes smoother and easier to navigate, though washouts still appear along the route and should not be ignored. Even in the easier final section, staying alert is important. This trail combines technical obstacles with a rewarding finish and is a great option for capable 4x4 vehicles seeking more challenge than the typical Salt Wash road.

Difficulty

This trail is harder than the surrounding Salt Wash routes due to repeated steep rock climbs, ledges up to 2 feet tall, and a hazardous, sharp rock that can damage tires or underbody components. While the trail smooths out near the end, the technical obstacles earlier in the route set the overall difficulty.
