Trail Overview
This route branches off Salt Wash North and drops down for a scenic stretch along the banks of the Green River before climbing back into the surrounding rock formations. The opening section offers a quieter riverside feel, with a few level dirt areas that can work well for primitive camping. The main challenges begin where the trail leaves the river and starts climbing away from the wash. Large erosion cuts and washouts appear throughout the route, with one of the most notable located near the transition away from the river. Once at the base of the rock formations, drivers must tackle two steep grades that can be run in either direction. Both climbs include rock ledges up to roughly 15 inches tall, along with loose rock that can reduce traction and reward careful throttle control. One hill features an off-camber rocky ledge near the top, making low range gearing highly recommended for a safe ascent or descent. Durable off-road tires, good clearance, and driver experience are strongly advised. In addition to the obstacles, the route delivers excellent views of the Green River corridor and surrounding desert cliffs, making it a rewarding trail for prepared drivers.
Difficulty
This route combines larger washouts, steep climbs, loose rock, and ledges up to 15 inches tall, making it one of the more demanding trails in the area. The riverside section is easier, but the climbs away from the Green River require 4lo range, good clearance, and controlled tire placement. The off-camber ledge near the top of one hill adds extra challenge.
