Trail Overview

This route follows a sandy desert track through open backcountry terrain with a mix of light obstacles and rewarding scenery. The trail surface is primarily sand, which can become soft in places and may require steady momentum depending on vehicle weight and tire pressure. Along the way, several washouts cross the route and uneven sections call for slower speeds and careful tire placement. A few steeper grades also appear, some with washouts cut into the climb, making traction and line choice more important than they first appear. The route is lined with natural desert vegetation, including brush and seasonal flowers, so staying on the established trail is important to protect the fragile landscape. As you travel, wide-open views reveal surrounding rock formations and distant mesas that give the drive a classic high desert feel. This is a scenic route best enjoyed at a relaxed pace with respect for both terrain and environment.

Difficulty

This route is mostly manageable but includes enough sand, washouts, and steeper grades to require attention from the driver. The main challenges come from traction on sandy climbs and navigating erosion cuts without slipping into deeper ruts. Most stock high-clearance 4x4 vehicles should do well in dry conditions, while lower-clearance vehicles or wet weather can raise the difficulty
