Trail Overview

Expect a pretty rocky and bumpy trail with puddles throughout. There are a few tight sections so a smaller rig would be a little bit easier for this trail. The trail ends just after the Castle Lake hiking trail and it is not a complete loop as it turns into a small ATV or Motorcycle trail not far past the Castle Lake turnoff. There is one puddle that is about a foot deep at one part and has rocks and logs hidden underneath but there is a turnaround right before it.

Difficulty

There is a puddle about a foot deep with rocks and logs hidden underneath, the trail is tight for most of the way and there are some rocks that require a decent amount of clearance.

High clearance and 4x4 definitely recommended. If conditions are wet, I would say this trail is more in the 5/10 range for difficulty, but I was out here after the rain storms/ snow storm/melt. I was in a gladiator on 3.5” lift and 37” tires, wouldn’t take a vehicle much bigger than that through this trail. Most of this trail is in the trees, tight trees,some boulders that were over 2’, 4 pretty good puddles on the trail yesterday. Deepest was above my differential and up to the bottom of the front bumper skid plate, so probably more then 24”+ of water in some spots and the mud on the bottom felt like quick sand. Rocks and logs under the water that can’t be seen. Can’t make it all the way to lake, turns into atv trail or some smaller trail. Area to turn around at the end of the trail. Possibility of damage to vehicle when wet, very easy to slide off the rocks in the puddles and hit another rock or tree on the other side.
