Trail Overview

This trail is pretty simple and most cars could make it up to the top. There are a few rocky sections and ruts that exist on the trail. There is one section that is like a shelf road but it is pretty wide and not bad at all. There are many campsites and side trails to go and drive up or hike up, and some lead to small lakes and ponds.

Difficulty

There are very few, but some rock gardens that most cars could get up, and a couple of ruts made from snow melt.

The road was smooth for a couple miles then mostly washboard. At about the 4.4-5 mile mark there is quite literally a wall of snow that someone more DariNd than I went through. But my stock height f150 I didn’t feel comfortable in.

Saw a tesla at the 3rd switchback 4th switchback has deep snow and is impassable without very large tires, no good turnaround spot where the snow is. Also when coming back down. On the third switchback a 6 foot diameter tree fell over and blocked the road.

Made it about 4.5 miles up when I hit snow just above 8900’. Over 2 feet deep in spots but melting quick. No-go for my ADV bike, but likely passable for 4x4

Trail was clear up until about a mile or two in. There was a large cell barrier and then about 2/3 of the road was covered in about 3 feet of snow or maybe 100 m or so. It’s current condition, large tires and front and rear lockers are probably needed. Definitely need to air down your tires. I would imagine it will probably be clear in a few weeks or so.

Deep snow, near the top. Large Jeep Gladiators w 38” tires could make it up, but smaller 4x4 got stuck. Then the large storm hit so even more snow.
