Earlier in the week we had come to view the pictographs. Today we came back to run the full length of the trail. drill is rocky and long once you get out of the salt canyons view doesn’t change much.

Fun trip. This is a bucket list trip for me because I wanted to see the black dragon picked a graph panel. I know it’s a controversial panel but standing there looking at it and knowing that it’s been on that rock for 1000 years or more, it’s just quite impressive

No mud or wet areas, really dry for this time of the year.

The western half of the trail is really pretty bland, but once you get down into the canyon it is very cool! This trail is super easy, we didn’t even need 4 wheel drive. There is one ledge that is pretty big, but there is an easy bypass around it. The pictographs in the canyon are definitely worth stopping to take a look at.

Pretty easy trail. Did it going east to west and then went back west to east. Both directions were easy.

The westernmost section was rocky wash, but the section to the immediate west of the pictograph panel is fairly difficult. Long sections of boulders to cross, plus sharp off-camber drop offs with rock ledges to climb and ascend. Be aware that the trail from the east end to the pictograph panel is quite easy compared to everything west of the panel.

You will need a little clearance. But it’s a pretty easy trail. Really beautiful especially on the east end in the canyon by the pictograph panel.

Supper easy trail any vehicle with some clearance could do this trial. There is also a fun water way you can stop at and drive threw on the east end of the trial that goes under I-70z

Did the trail in the east to west direction. This trail was a bit of a challenge for me and for my truck as well. Since I was by myself , I stopped and got out several times to survey the trail conditions. There are many forks in the wash and had to back up a few times as the one I took was not the best choice. As I was getting out of the deep canyon, I ran I to a jeep going in the opposite direction and they told me that they felt like they were going in circle and had decided to turn around. Since it had taken me quite a bit of time to do about a quarter of the trail, I decided to turn around as well I find it hard to imagine that this trail could be done in 2 hours. It maybe with a more experience and a better suited vehicle. I have been in other trails rated and this one felt more difficult. Be mindful of hikers on the trail. I ran into a couple of groups along the way.

The trail through the wash was straightforward. We traveled east to west, and when you hit a fork in the braided sections of the wash the trick is to pick the one going up.
After the wash itself, the shelf road sections were degraded after some recent rains. This didn't make them impassable, but it's something to be aware of. My traveling companion in a F250 was able to make it through.

Finally got my Jeep out back together and decided to go out Buck Horn Draw to Black Dragon Wash. Wasn't bad at all, ran into a few sxs and hikers. Warm dry day, no issues.

We started at i70 and just went to the petroglyphs and turned back. There was extra water on the road before the turn into the reef. Had to go down about 100 yards of flowing stream over the road. Jeep only acted like it was going through mud once and we just pushed though in four low. 32 inch tires in 2.5 inch lift. Not sure how it looks past the petroglyphs
