Trail Overview
Billingsly Trail (Trail #67 of the Markagunt OHV System, or Forest Service Road 30598) is an easy and scenic 2.3-mile connector trail perfect for beginners and anyone looking for a quick, relaxed mountain drive. This trail bridges the gap between Harris Rim and Swains Creek, winding through dense stands of pines and aspens on the side of a mountain ridge. Winding through the scenic Markagunt Plateau at elevations ranging from 7,828 to 8,046 feet, the trail features gentle elevation changes with a total descent of about 230 feet when traveling from east to west. With a technical rating of 1, the route is open to all vehicle sizes, from full-size four-wheel-drive vehicles to SxSs, ATVs, and dirt bikes, making it highly accessible.
The trail surface is primarily dirt and can easily be navigated by any high-clearance vehicle, though four-wheel-drive may be helpful during or after wet weather. Although the path is generally clear and straightforward, travelers should remain alert for fallen trees, branches, and other forest debris that can occasionally obstruct the path after windy days or heavy storms. Billingsly Trail connects directly to Forest Road 30062 on the east and Swains Creek on the west, allowing offroaders to easily integrate it into a longer day of exploring the expansive Markagunt OHV System near Duck Creek Village, Utah.
