Trail Overview

Wildcat Stairway is one of the more difficult trails in the park and is designated for one-way, daytime use only. The trail begins as a relatively mild dirt road but steadily becomes more technical as it progresses. Riders will encounter increasing obstacles, including softball-sized boulders, tall ledges, stair-step formations, washouts, and extreme off-camber sections. These features demand careful line selection and consistent vehicle control. Near the end of the trail, a major rock obstacle funnels vehicles into a tight passage between a large rock and a tree. This section is particularly challenging, and winching or vehicle damage is highly likely.

Difficulty

Wildcat Stairway is rated a difficult trail and is best suited for highly experienced drivers with well-equipped vehicles. As the trail progresses, off-camber washouts become increasingly severe, creating a high risk of loss of traction and potential rollover if not carefully navigated. These sections demand precise line choice and steady throttle control. The final obstacle is particularly challenging, forcing vehicles through a very tight gap between a large boulder approximately 4 to 5 feet tall in places and a tree. This section leaves little room for error, and body damage or the need for winching is highly likely.
