V-38 Horseshoe Basin

V-38 Horseshoe Basin is a short, intense rock crawling trail in the Escondido Draw Recreation Area. Spanning a quarter-mile, this challenging route climbs 168 feet from the V-32 Viero Access Trail to the top of the mesa at the V-28 Vaquero Trail. Drivers face steep, vertical limestone ledges ranging from two to six feet high. The terrain features loose limestone rocks and steep pitches up to 34 degrees. Successfully navigating this route requires front and rear lockers, a winch, 37-inch off-road tires, and an experienced spotter. Reaching the summit rewards drivers with views of the surrounding West Texas canyons.
