Trail Overview

Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, this scenic 4.9-mile dirt and gravel trail runs along County Road 315 and offers a peaceful drive with sweeping countryside views. In March and April, the landscape comes alive with vibrant displays of bluebonnets, making it an especially picturesque time to visit. The trail crosses Sandy Creek twice. While typically shallow and passable for most 4WD vehicles, the creek can become impassable during heavy rains, so check conditions before you go. Although this is a public county road, the land on both sides is private property—please respect posted signs and avoid trespassing. The road is generally well-maintained, with much of it wide enough for two vehicles. However, a few narrow sections require caution, and the water crossings can pose a technical challenge depending on water depth. Important Note: As a public road, only street-legal, registered vehicles with license plates are permitted.

Multiple signs up saying road closed. We ventured to look and water levels were fine. Enjoyed the drive with the family.

Great route, very easy drive past ranches and a manageable granite road. A couple of shallow water crossings. Could see potential for flooding and impassable during heavy rain.

Most of road is paved now. Crossing at Sandy's Creek had water, but 2 wheel drive is all that was needed. Not as remote as it was back in 2020.
