Trail Overview
In the late 1800s and early 1900s Merus was both a cattle ranch and a source of lumber for building homes and fences. You can still see remnants of its past life at Cable Point where the cables and hoists used to pull timber out of the canyon are still in place. Combined with the historical artifacts at Cable Point is yet one more stunning view of the canyon below. Cable Point Trail starts out as an easy drive along a dirt road with just a few bumps and turns before hitting a more challenging section that will give your suspension a workout. At the very end of the trail is a short, sharp, steep turn down a hill to the parking area at Cable Point.

Difficulty
Two sections of this trail may require 4WD Low range to navigate. The first is a set of moguls created by escaping ground water that has cut a path down the trail. The second is a short steep drop around a sharp corner that leads to the parking area at Cable Point. Getting back up this obstacle may also require a 4WD low range.
