Trail Overview

Short Creek Loop Road is a 4.6-mile route through Prentice Cooper WMA featuring mostly dirt and sandy terrain with occasional rocky garden sections. This narrow, single-lane trail twists tightly through dense forest, offering a scenic backcountry drive typical of the area. The route intersects Maple Branch Road, where designated parking provides convenient access for hikers exploring the nearby Mullens Cove Loop Trail.

Difficulty

High Clearance and 4WD are required in certain sections of the route due to steep inclines and declines that involve some small rock ledges. Beware of big loose rock along the route. As with all dirt terrain, the route may become hazardous in wet conditions.
