Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 236 Smith Creek Road down to the powerhouse. The highlight of this trail is the powerhouse at the end of the trail. The Appalachia powerhouse supplies the Hiawassee River. During the summer months, this is a favorite spot for rafters. Fly fishing is a big activity in the area as well. There are some nice overlooks along the trail with some nice places to stop and explore. There are some washouts that can become a challenge during times they haven't been maintained.

Excellent trail as always. If you can drive McFarland in, this is no problem at all. Excellent place to stop and view the powerhouse and walk the bridge at the end. Well worth it.
