Trail Overview
Old Rowe Gap Road is a steep, winding trail that branches off Rowe Gap Road and connects to Iron Gap Road. At the south end, you’ll find Miller Gap Overlook, a great spot to stop and take in the scenic beauty of the Cumberland Plateau. The trail surface is a mix of loose gravel, sections of tar-and-chip pavement, and a single rock ledge obstacle approximately 24 inches tall. The ledge is located on the north end of the trail, so it is possible to reach the overlook while avoiding the obstacle entirely. About halfway through, the trail crosses Rowe Gap Road again, providing an easy early exit option. This is a public road, and only street-legal vehicles are permitted.
Difficulty
This trail would be a 1 except for one obstacle close to the north end of the trail. It is a rock ledge that is close to 24 inches in places, but with the right line and spotting, you can avoid the worst of it.
