Trail Overview

This is a relatively tame FS road that offers some camp spots, scenic views, and a peaceful drive through the mountains. Although the trail is mostly flat, you will encounter some potholes and small rocks along the way. This is an out-and-back trail with the turn-around point overlooking some of Unicoi and Johnson City. Cell service was spotty but more reliable towards the turnaround point. There is one spur trail that is very short that leads to a camping area. The trail is closed during winter months.

Difficulty

Some mud holes and rocks could be a potential issue for 2wd or low-ground clearance vehicles.

Dispersed camping on trail. Winter storm. Teens temperatures snow and windy. Gladiator and wrangler. Trail supposed to be closed but we were desperate for campsite as many gates closed for winter but this one is open at least to the halfway point where we are camping.

Short, easy trail with a couple of campsites. Few mud holes from recent rain, nothing deep. Fun little hill climb at end of trail, doesn't go anywhere, at least didn't look like it did.

This trail is a quick one. Easy ride. A few small mud holes and just a little rockiness. Pretty simple. At the end there is an optional dirt hill that leads to a trail that is more interesting and a steeper climb. I went as far as I could before it became too narrow for my Rubicon. Rated it a 1 and the side trail is a 2.

Had a great time! Not too technical but requires being attentive at all times. Fine branches jutting out through the entire trail. If you have a wide body, such as a Raptor, expect it to get thoroughly scratched. There’s also a large tree branch attached to a fallen tree that’s hanging and blocking half of a trail at the 75% mark, you’ll need a spotter to squeeze through and not fall off the cliff.

Trail is open, looked like the gate had been pulled up due to storm damage. Crazy amount of someone’s trash laying beside the gate. Such a shame because the dump is right up the main road a mile from the trail head…. The trail itself is very well maintained with just a few holes.

First time out here. Great trail. Pray you don’t have to pass someone very narrow and not may wide areas. Just a little more narrow further up you get.
