Trail Overview

Gibson Knob Trail is an easy OHV trail within the North Cumberland OHV Riding Area. It is mostly a wide shelf road riding through a dense forest with muddy patches and low-hanging branches that limit the overhead clearance. The trail has mild muddy ruts and mud puddles at times as it rides along the hillside with rolling dips and humps. A few sections are narrow on the shelf road, and there are short embedded rock layers that form mild ledges. There are small loose rocks and stick debris from downed branches in the trail, but no major obstacles. It rides along some scenic mossy rock walls. The south end of the trail connects to a wider portion of the road.

Difficulty

This is rated as Moderate by the North Cumberland WMA. It is mostly easy though, because the trail does not have any major obstacles, remains pretty gradual throughout the short route, and is not extremely rutted. Difficulty can change and it can become more difficult in wet conditions. There were several mildly muddy spots, and a few sections along the shelf road will be narrow for wider UTVs.
