Trail Overview

Double Camp Road (FSR 2659) is a rocky trail that winds up the mountain to the Farr Gap trailhead. Along the trail, you will find yourself traveling along the scenic Double CampCreekk. It's a great place to stop for lunch and enjoy the sounds of the rushing water. Further up the trail, you will separate from the creek and find inclines into the Tellico Mountain tops. Winter is the best time to see the mountain views that seem to go on for miles. This trail is easy and can be done with any high-clearance vehicle. I was able to drive the whole route in two-wheel drive. There is no cell service, so youmusto download the offline maps for the area.

I passed 3-4 active camp sites at the very beginning (Coming from Indian boundary) Other than that, I saw one other person 5-10 minutes before I got back onto citico. I had an absolute blast. I didn’t have to use 4wd one time. There were a ton of rocks and ruts. I unfortunately didn’t see any wildlife, though it was mid day. I only got 1 bar of service at the very top of the mountain, none anywhere else. I plan to come back soon, it and citico south were fun and beautiful.

Super fun trail to do, especially if camping or visiting Indian Boundary lake. Great views about half way around with great parallels to the creek along the way. There is a radio tower where an old fire tower used to be. We stopped in case there was a clearing for better views but it’s overgrown and you can’t see much. Also be mindful of campers, hikers, and fishers along the way as there are many out there.

Good condition. The double camp side is the rougher side but never needed 4wd. Great creekside campsites on the double camp side as well. Fantastic views this time of year from the top.

First off, Great trail. Fun and unpredictable. I’d say this deserves a higher than a “2” rating now due to all the rain we’ve been having. Large exposed rocks, washouts, and grapefruit sized loose rocks are common. Easy on a smaller bike, more challenging on the bigger bikes.

Lower road, gravel, 2 lane some pot holes, lots of camp sites, fair amount of traffic. Upper Trail was mostly small rocks, lots of switchbacks. Beautiful. Airing down is suggested, will improve your ride. Nice ride, did not see another vehicle. Lots of work done on culverts, all washouts were repaired.

Road is getting rougher by the day. Spur road 5022 was open, but blocked by a large tree about 1.5 miles in. Some rutted sections along the trail are getting deeper, and some small mudholes are getting larger.
