Campbell’s Split

Campbell’s Split is a short Off- Highway Vehicle trail within the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area, in the Sundquist Unit north of LaFollette, Tennessee. At just under a mile long, the trail connects Ivydell Road (a full-width 4x4 trail) to the Ivydell Off- Highway Vehicle trail. The trail is a mix of wide and narrow, with single-lane sections that will feel tight between the maple trees and thick ferns. The trail is very muddy, especially in the wet summer months. The dirt is mixed with clay that becomes very greasy and slippery when wet. Expect deep ruts that can change with time, and flat sandstone rock surfaces that form ledges about a foot tall. Sections can become off-camber and sloped due to the ruts. There are big mud puddles spanning the width of the trail that are hard to avoid. The trail was unmarked at both entrances, but was otherwise easy to follow.
