Trail Overview

This is a SXS trail designated for vehicles 62" or less in the Black Hills National Forest west of Rapid City, South Dakota. It starts on a wide path next to a wooden fence with really pretty rock cliffs in the background. It stays really mellow and easy for most of the route. There are sections with embedded rock layers, sometimes creating ledges half a foot tall, and other sections with lots of big loose rocks in the trail. There are small hill climbs, shallow ruts, and uneven surfaces, but overall should be very easy for any type of SXS vehicle. It's flowy through the pine forest and has a couple of wooden bridges at the north end of the trail that you have to cross. The trail looks moderately trafficked, and there weren't any logs down. It stays wide for the entire route. There are tons of other 4x4 roads to explore in the area and 62" trails to make for a fun day ride in the Black Hills.

Not the most fun trail, super busy. Trail is rough and tumble due to the excessive amount of traffic giving it a constant beating.

We took our Polaris ranger crew 1000 and it was definitely not meant for this trail. We made it through but if you started at the south end you would’ve gotten stuck heading north. Our friends we were with had CanAms that made it through fine.
