Trail Overview

Leaving Spearfish Canyon from Savoy, you'll find yourself on Roughlock Falls Road, a well-maintained gravel road that leads you up to Cement Ridge Fire Lookout, which boasts expansive views of the Black Hills Forest and surrounding area. If you decide to take the trail down to Grand Canyon Road, beware of the loose rock decent that eventually drops you into a breathtaking canyon with a well maintained gravel road.

We took Cement Ridge Fire Lookout from the Spearfish Canyon entrance. As soon as you are on the trail, there are the Roughlock Falls. A must to get out and walk down to them. You will also find the scene where Dances with Wolves took place. Get out and walk down to the water. The trail is gravel and wide. 2wd capable.

It was dry on our trip and was easy to make it up in 2-wheel drive. there were a couple steeper places and some small rocky areas. a lot of the latter part is a narrower one-lane road. Its not too bad though. The view is worth the trip.
