Trail Overview

Table Falls is one of the prettiest roadside attractions in the Quehanna Wilds Area. The Table Falls Loop takes you through some great scenery on this 20-mile ride. It follows Red Run through the woods and down the hill to the point where it meets Mix Run, finally meeting up with the Bennett Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek. This trail is a picturesque ride from the Quehanna highway to Driftwood, Pennsylvania, and back through the Wilds. There are a few restaurants in Driftwood if you're looking for a break mid-trip. The trip up Hoover Road is a steep climb, about 1,300 feet in a few short miles. Depending on the time of year, there is a small waterfall that seems to stretch further up the hillside than you can actually see. In the springtime, there can be a lot of mud on Hoover Road. The route will end very near where it began.

Been using this road for several years. BE CAREFUL IN THE WINTER FOR SNOW AND ICE. EASY TO GET STUCK IN WINTER. Watch for rattlesnakes on the road and sides of the road in the summer. I got stuck in a 3 foot deep snow drift here once in fresh powder. Took me a little while to get out as my truck did not have a winch yet and it was single digits with 30mph wind. The snow can easily reach knee deep over 24-48 hour period if Lake effect bands set up which begins in mid November so be careful if camping. In late winter due to thawing and re-freezing a crust of ice forms on top of the snow which can be very dangerous. Hoover road was fixed in summer of 2024 and again in 2025 thus all the big mud bogs that used to make this trail fun/sketchy are mostly gone. They scraped the top layer of the road down and added some hard stone and packed it in really good. I suspect next year they will add gravel. There is no cell signal along this road so bring a satellite phone and appropriate recovery/survival gear.

They came in and fixed this road. It was fun in 2024 but now in 2014 I could take any 2wd car on it. The muddy section has been fixed they added drainage, etc. A fair portion of it was graded, new ditches, and they even put asphalt millings on sections. Still nice scenery but it's not at all like it was.

Trail was great. Entered in on the left and passed the falls then going further in there are cabins on the right. Shortly after that is the downed tree.

I tried getting into both roads from the south and both roads I came on sections that were completely iced over for a ways. I backed out to avoid getting stuck in the forest. I'd give it a week or 2 before heading in without chains.

Starting at the trailhead, its paved asphault then goes into stone about half way to split road. When returning to the trail, this is where its all mud. Lots and lots of mud and and mud puddles. Mud ruts are deep. 4x4 or atv needed for the next few days after all the rain in the past 7 days.
