Trail Overview

This is one of the most technical of the trails in Laurel State Park/Forbes State Forest. The trail is mostly dirt and rough gravel. It is quite narrow in some sections and expects to be brushing some small branches but there are enough pull-offs in case you encounter any oncoming vehicles. There is a nice little water crossing and some fairly steep climbs with some rugged rock sections. High clearance 4x4 is recommended. I'm sure this trail will not have snow maintenance.

Difficulty

This is an uneven, rutted dirt trail with the potential for loose rocks and sandy washes. Water crossings are less than a foot deep. There is potential for mud holes and trail obstacles up to 12", including ledges and short, steep grades. The roads are typically one vehicle wide with places to pass. High Clearance 4x4 is recommended.

A little more washed then the last report. When traveled I made a right onto Brown heading towards Larual Hill State park and was impressed with the reclamation of Brown road by the logging company.

created a loop starting on Cemetery trail, turned right on Brown Rd, then left onto the John Henry trail through Laurel Ridge Park. Completed the loop by following Middle Fork Rd back out to meet Brown Rd. Beginning of Middle Fork was downhill, narrow, and fairly rutted but passable. It was a fun ride.

Tight in spots so will pinstripe. Started at Brown Road and ended at 653. Near the end there are some large washed out ruts to avoid.
