Trail Overview

John Henry Road is found along 653 in Laurel Ridge State Park. This 2.5 mile trail is surrounded by the State Forest which is mostly a mix of dirt and gravel. A majority of the trail has locations to pull off, but there are narrow sections. Be mindful when traveling in groups and for oncoming vehicles.

This is an uneven, rutted dirt trail with gravel. Water crossings and mud exist, typically after storms. Roads are one vehicle wide at times but there are many places to pass.

Rocky trail, a few slightly muddy spots after a heavy rain. No need for 4wd, any stock 4x4 or SUV with a little clearance can easily do this trail.
