Trail Overview

Zig Zag Trail is a fun OHV trail in the center of Zig Zag Road. It climbs / drops (depending on the direction of travel) over 600 feet in half a mile in a tightly forested, undulating two-track with thirteen switchbacks. It is signed as a trail fit for MX, ATV, and short-wheelbase 4x4 vehicles. This trail is NOT suitable for low-clearance passenger vehicles or full-size, long-wheelbase 4x4 trucks.

Very fun trail in my FJ40. The brush is overgrown and lots of potential pinstripes. Signs show short wheelbase high clearance 4x4 as largest vehicles which can pass here.

Trail was tight for my 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, but no trees in the way. No 3-point turns. Lots of brush and pinstripes. 2.5” lift and 37’s was no issue. Pretty sure the belly never touched once. Very fun (short) trail, will do it again.

Brush is overgrown leading to possible pin striping. Tight turns and some areas for potential high centering with long wheelbase and/or low clearance. No need to air down and went up in the rain with all terrain tires without any issues.

I just have a 4Runner with 2” lift kit. I would say it’s not for lower vehicle

Can confirm that this trail is NOT suitable for lower clearance, longer wheelbase, or full-size vehicles. Our 2-door Jeep Wrangler walked right through but our friends in a Cherokee scraped and nearly high-centered several times.

I did this trail in my stock 4Runner and had a blast. There’s a couple of sharp turns and lots of up and downs, but nothing too technical. I wouldn’t do this trail in a car longer than a 4Runner, such as a long bed truck or with a trailer. There are too many sharp turns.

Fun little section of the trail. Narrow and has several bumps that may require high clearance vehicles only. Trail is clearly marked with a sign as such.

Besides being a little muddy on this day, there were some downed limbs. Not an issue. I went up from the south end and found it smooth going. There are some rollers that necessitated hi-clearance to prevent turtling. The switchbacks are tight but my JLU cruised without having to stop and correct.
