Trail Overview

Todd Lake TH is a mixed dirt and gravel trail starting from Cascade Lakes Scenic Highway (Co Hwy 46) that connects to Skyliners Rd. After the Todd Lake Day Use area, only 4wd is recommended. Although most of the trail is two vehicles wide, there are many sections where you should expect to pull off if you encounter other vehicles. This trail winds through both open rocky meadows and densely forested areas with many pull-offs for dispersed camping. You will definitely see many deer along the way. Todd Lake TH is rocky with ruts and potholes. The second half of the trail runs along the border of the Three Sisters Wilderness. Along much of the trail, you can see a small creek and a waterfall that adds to the beautiful scenery of this forest road.

Difficulty

The entirety of the trail has ruts and potholes up to 18" deep. There are multiple sections of the trail that has rocks and slow travel is recommended. The last quarter (from Hwy 46) has a water crossing and it looked like there might be another water crossing that forms in the spring. Stock 4wd is capable to handle this trail but not 2wd vehicles.

Super cool trail! Came across way more snow than expected but it just added to the beauty! The trail was easy enough and we did most of it in 4H. Was mostly a dirt trail with some rocks and snow. There were a few small water crossings but none of them deep enough to be concerned about. You drove along the creek for a good portion of the trail which led to some beautiful rest stops to let the dogs out.

This trail is a 2/10, reason why I rated it as a 3/10 is due to a single brief water crossing that's less than 15" deep (summer). The trail is so easy Subarus with full tire pressure are able to do the whole trail. I aired down since the trail was rented at 4/10, but you don't need to air down all.
