Trail Overview

Looking Glass is a 10.2-mile point-to-point route that begins at the end of the highway, descending early into a canyon as a wide gravel road before reaching Looking Glass Creek. The first 5.3 miles follow a Forest Service right-of-way through several parcels of private property. Beyond this section, the road narrows to a single-lane route and climbs steadily up toward and past Jubilee Lake. Only highway legal vehicles are permitted on this route. The surface is primarily gravel, with frequent washboarding along much of the route. Looking Glass is open from April 1 to November 30.

Difficulty

Looking Glass is an easy-going gravel road suitable for most 2WD and low-clearance vehicles. The primary challenges are frequent washboarding and narrow sections where the road transitions to a single lane. Weather conditions such as rain or snow can increase difficulty. As with most trails in the area, bringing a chainsaw or equipment to clear fallen trees is recommended.
